Practical application of efficiency estimation of nanosized zinc oxide in the therapy of burn wounds

The efficiency assessment of nanosized zinc oxide (ZnO) as a component of a high-potency wound-healing ointment composition was performed. The ointment consisted of a hydrophilic methylcellulose base and 5 wt. % ZnO nanoparticles as an active substance. Nanosized ZnO was obtained by the sol-gel meth...

Commercial zinc ointment was used as a comparison sample. Planimetric studies were conducted on the effectiveness of burn-wound healing in white Wistar rats. Three cases were considered: wounds were treated using a pharmaceutical zinc ointment or the ointment with ZnO nanoparticles, or received no treatment.
