Innovative processes, in particular in education, guide the academic teaching staff on new development, improvement of their knowledge, skills, mastery of new types of activities, which is an urgent area of higher education. The article substantiates the need for teachers of the university to develop skills in information and communication technologies, including search skills, information exchange, communication, creating conditions for systematically improving the quality of education, expanding opportunities for self-education. The authors considered the directions of information and communication technologies application in the field of physical education on the example of implementation in the online format of the additional educational program "Functional fitness training". Groups of software tools have been allocated to perform specific tasks of distance learning.
