Arthur Conan Doyle (1859 – 1930) was an English writer best known for his detective stories about Sherlock Holmes. «Round the Red Lamp» is a splendid collection of medical and detective short stories, the idea of which was suggested to the author by none other than Jerome K. Jerome.
