| Summary: | The article is devoted to digitalization—the current trend of modern world development. Both nationwide scientific methods of knowledge and special methods used in historical and legal scientific developments made it possible to assess its scope and identify features of development in the Russian Federation. Design/methodology/approach: The authors identified the essence of the digitalization process, prerequisites, the ratio of advantages and risks and the degree of prevalence of digital technologies in Russian reality, and also considered pressing tasks related to the further development of this process. Findings: The monitoring made it possible to determine the main goal of the strategy for the development of the information society in the Russian Federation for 2017–2030, namely, to increase the level of demand of the Russian population for the use of the country's digital resources. The authors consider digitalization as one of the criteria for the quality of life. The comprehensive coverage of digitalization of the economy, ranging from small businesses to large corporations, is described; from secondary schools to academies and research centers; social sphere, from the average resident to professional specialists, etc. Originality/value: During the research, the authors of the article concluded that the process of digitalization in the era of globalization has a global trend, excluding the possibility of isolating a state or region. The main indicator of the effective implementation of digitalization is the level of mastery and skills in working with it. It should be noted that the platform for digitalization is information support and computerization. In contrast, digitalization forms a kind of technological environment that allows the user to independently determine the scope of his contacts at the technological, methodological, partner, service, educational levels. |
